Microsoft’s replacement for Vista. Became available in October 2009.

    Escape Comment (last update 6/10): Escape has installed Windows 7 and tested our Escape Online 5 client software on it. We have many customers using both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. We are happy to report that it appears we are completely compatible.

Windows Vista has been available since early 2007, and was touted by Microsoft as the XP successor. Our customer base has mostly rejected Vista.

    Escape Comment (last update 6/10): We currently support our client app on Vista. Though many reviews say Vista is slower than XP, for our development and our running software, Vista is faster than XP. We believe this is due to the fact that the .Net environment is better integrated into Vista than XP.

XP has been the workhorse desktop OS for many years.

    Escape Comment (last update 6/10): We currently support our client app on XP. XP has been supported since Escape Online 5 went live. While nearly all our users are still on XP, many are making the move to Windows 7. For .Net 3.5, the minimum requirement is Windows XP, sp 2.

As the name indicates, this version of the server operating system has been available since the 2008 timeframe. This OS is viewed as the replacement for Windows Server 2003. At this time, there are 32 and 64 bit versions available.


As the name indicates, this version of the server operating system has been available since the 2003 timeframe.

    Escape Comment (last update 6/10): This was the recommended server OS when we first went live on Escape Online 5. However due to our migration to the .Net 3.5 Platform, our server side software is no longer compatible with Server 2003. As customers upgrade to the 3.5 platform Escape Online 5 system, the Windows 2008 Server OS will be utilized.

Microsoft .Net 3.5 Development Environment Released in late 2007, this is the current version of .Net. .Net is the programming and development environment used by Escape to build the Online 5 system.

    Escape Comment (last update 6/10): In late 2008, we started the move directly to .Net 3.5, the current version of .Net. This effort is complete, and every customer will be on this version by the end of 2010.
